When Will D-Will Play For Brooklyn? Good News Today……

Updated: October 22, 2013

[quote_simple]The Brooklyn Nets preseason has been pretty good so far with all of the new faces getting acclimated and learning to play with one another but there is one major question that no one seems to have the answer to:

No one knows at this point and if anyone tells you that they do know ….. they are lying.

As ESPN NY reported this past weekend the coach and player both made comments on the subject although it hasn’t really answered anything.

Today word came out that Williams overcame a big hurdle when he participated in half court 5-on-5 drills for about 20 minutes.

This is a huge step for D-Will in his quest to be ready for the season opener.

“We’re only on Oct. 19. I’m just trying to get to the 20th,” Nets coach Jason Kidd said Saturday.  We’re taking it day by day. Keep searching. It’s a record. Just push play.”

“It’s just the process of day to day. Things change. You go forward, you might take a step back, but we’re only going forward right now.”

“He’s out there doing the stuff the doctors and trainers have cleared him to do,” Kidd said. “He looks great. So we’ll see how he feels tomorrow and see if he can do a little bit more.”

TODAY:” “He looked great,”  Kidd said of Williams today after the workout.  “The process is to do a little bit more each day, and today he got in some contact stuff and he looked good.”

“It’s frustrating having to sit out, frustrating having to watch them play games in the preseason. Really, practice, practice has been fun to watch; but also frustrating to watch because I can’t be out there,” Williams said.  “They’ve had a lot of battles out there, a lot of great practices and I want to be a part of them. So at times I feel like I’m not part of this team right now because I’m not out there, I want to be a part of this team when I am practicing.” Jason Kidd talks to Deron Williams on sideline

“I still got my iPad loaded with plays, defensive schemes, so I’m definitely comfortable,” he said. “I’ve been doing a lot of 5-on-0 stuff I just haven’t been doing 5-on-5. I have a pretty good feel, stuff that San Antonio ran and the Mavs ran. I know most of the NBA playbook; it’s a matter of getting comfortable with the guys.”

“Every day its getting better,” Williams said. “We’re just being really pre-cautious. Even KG [Kevin Garnett] and Paul [Pierce] know how much I want to get out on the court right now.

But I’m just listening to everybody’s advice and making sure I’m 110 percent and there’s not going to be any lingering effects. I [don’t want to] go out here and tweak my ankle and I’m set back another month. I don’t want to do that. That’s what we’re doing right now.”

TODAY: “I didn’t feel in sync at all because I haven’t played basketball,” Williams said, laughing. “But it felt good to get out there.”[/box][/quote_simple]
