VIDEO – Nets Recap: #Heat 105 – #Nets 85
Heat 105 – Nets 85
The Nets came out slow and allowed the Heat to jump out to a 10 point lead. Joe Johnson crossed over Chris Bosh so bad he fell into his teammate while Johnson drained the jumper. The Heat were 5-for-5 early on 3-pointers and were in a groove from deep. Brook Lopez took a shot in the chin and opened up a cut that needed stitches. The heat had 8 second chance points as bad bounces hurt the Nets early. Lopez had seven points while Lebron James had nine after one quarter with Heat leading 30-20.
Andray Blatche started the second with a thunderous slam for the Nets. The Heat dominated the Nets inside and took a 15-7 rebound lead and 8-1 offensive rebound lead while being the worst rebounding team in the NBA. Fast break points were at 10-0 early in the second in favor of the Heat. Blatche had 10 points midway thru the second when the Nets made a run to cut the lead to 41-35. The Nets gathered themselves and made multiple stops to make a 20-8 run to make a game of it. Lopez and Blatche combined for 23 points and seven rebounds to lead the comeback with a 29-19 quarter. Nets shot 54 percent and outscored the Heat 32-16 in the paint to tie the game 49-49 at half.
The Nets took their first lead of the game at a 53-51. The game went back and forth the first few possessions with Lopez continuing his strong game with six quick points. The Heat then went on and 19-2 run to take a 71-57 lead with four minutes left in third. Five turnovers hurt the Nets during the run. Second chance points were the story of the game to this point and the Heat outscored the Nets 14-2 in the paint in the quarter. The Nets were limited to 14 points in the quarter to the Heat’s 36. P.J. Carlesimo brought in Mirza Teletovic for some offense but his shot was not falling. The game went back and forth for a while but got quite ugly as both teams emptied the benches halfway through the fourth as the Nets had 19 turnovers for the game. Lopez finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and James finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The Heat ran away with this one in the second half and won 105-85.
This was a very disappointing game for the Brooklyn Nets as they were on national television and came out in the second half and laid an egg. The Nets had 19 turnovers in all three games against the Heat this year and as a result they are 0-3 in those games.
GAME CHANGER: The Nets were outscored in the third quarter 36-14 and the game was over at that point.
STAT OF THE GAME: The Heat shot 7-for-9 from 3-point range in the first half and ended the game shooting a hot 11-for-19.
