Ugly start to the game with consecutive turnovers by both teams.  Nets started 2-9 with five turnovers while the Bulls grabbed every loose ball.  Bulls lead 10-6 with  five minutes left in first.  The officiating to start the game was horrendous and Gerald Wallace was called for his second on a clean block of Jimmy Butler. There was 10 fouls called in the first eight minutes of this game.  Bulls lead 18-12 with three to play. Joe Johnson hits a 3-pointer to give Brooklyn some life a d the Bulls lead the Nets 20-17 after one.  Johnson with seven points and Reggie Evans grabbed five rebounds.

Brook Lopez shoots over Bulls  Joakim Noah game 2The Bench Mob with CJ Watson, Andray Blatche, Keith Bogans, Jerry Stackhouse come in with Evans.  More Brooklyn turnovers lead to easy baskets by the Bulls.  Bulls lead 28-23 with nine left in the half. The refs are running this game and stopping every possession.  Unwatchable.  Nets shooting a horrid 34 percent with seven turnovers.  More missed shots for the Nets that lead to run outs for Chicago and they lead 34-27 midway through second.  Johnson and a quiet Deron Williams come back into the game.  Nets with an 12-3 spurt to take the lead 39-37 with two minutes to play.  Bulls come right back with a 6-0 run.  Watson came alive with a layup and a 3-pointer at the horn to get the Nets to within 47-46 at half.  Brook Lopez with 14 points to go with Williams eight assists.

Bulls with a quick 5-0 run to start the half to go up 52-46.  Williams cannot get a shot to fall and is 0-5 for two points.  Every shot is a contested jumper for Brooklyn right now.  Bulls up 57-50 with seven to play and are lucky to not be down more as Bulls are 5-11 from FT line.  Evans with a rare dunk followed by two fouls to send Carlos Boozer to the line for a 3-point play.  Bulls up 62-55 midway through the third.  Nets 2-12 in third and go down 67-55 and look horrible.  Johnson has not scored since the first quarter.  The Nets finish the third quarter 2-for-18 from the field, score 11 points and head into the fourth trailing 69-57.

[blockquote]P.J. – We dug a hole in the third quarter and our defense the entire game just wasn’t quite good enough.  If we don’t get stops and rebounds it is hard for us to get out in transition and then you are playing against their half court defense. a lot.  We missed a lot of shots that went in the other night.[/blockquote]

This game is over.  Williams and Johnson combined 4-18 for 13 points.  The Bench Mob started the fourth and went on a 9-0 run to get within 73-68 with eight to play.  Blatche with six points early in fourth.  Johnson hit back to back 3-pointers to get the Nets to within 80-76 with four minutes to play. The Bulls led by Joakim Noah’s hustle grabbed important rebounds late to halt the Nets run and deal the game.  The Nets outscored the Bulls in the fourth but once again could not make the key shot late and made the key stop when needed.  Bulls win 89-82 and series ties 1-1.

Rebounds – Evans – 8

Assists – Williams – 10

STAT OF THE NIGHT: Bulls reversed the paint scoring in this game on Brooklyn and outscored the Nets 42-30 and played much better defense inside.

GAMECHANGER:  The Nets had their usual third quarter funk and scored a lowly 11 points on 2-19 shooting and the game was over after that.
