The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Sacramento Kings by a score of  104-89 in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn looked to have energy early and started out and took an 11-2 lead and then had three straight turnovers for fast break layups to be up 17-4.   The Nets forced seven turnovers and four were steals to lead 28-19 after one.

A 10-1 run in the 2nd pushed the lead to 38-22.    At the half, Nets bench has outscored Sacramento’s bench 24-4 and forced 13 turnovers.  Nets up  49-40 behind Deron Williams 10 points while Demarcus Cousins poured in 15 points to lead the Kings.

The Kings went on a 10-0 run in the third to tie the game at 57 with seven minutes left in the quarter. The Nets answered the Kings mini run with a quarter ending 20-8 run to lead 77-65 lead after three quarters.

The run was led by newly acquired ex-King Marcus Thornton who scored 15 straight points spanning the third and fourth that helped Brooklyn blow the game wide open.  Thornton enjoyed every minute of his scoring display against his old team in his new home in Brooklyn where the crowd was electric.

The bench came in and finished out the game unimpressively to make it look like it was closer than the score indicates.

Thornton has now scored 20+ points three times in seven games with the Nets when he scored 20+ points only three  times in 46 games with the Kings this season.Brooklyn now has 12 steals in six straight games which ties the franchise record set in 1979.

Cousins finished with 28 points and 20 rebounds in the loss.

Nets win their seventh in a row to get back over .500. 14-2 in their last 16 at home, 16-2 in their last 18 against sub-.500 teams.
