The Brooklyn Nets beat the Miami Heat by a score of 104-95 in Brooklyn.

Joe Johnson came out on fire and dropped 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting in first quarter and hit 4-for-4 from 3-point range.

Lebron James did his best to match Johnson with 16 first quarter points but the Nets led 33-32 after one. The Nets shot 72 percent to the Heats 65 percent in first.

Things came to a grinding halt in the second quarter and the field goal percent dropped by 20 or so points for both teams.  The defense settled in and the Nets won the quarter 20-13 to go into halftime with a 53-45 lead.  Nets shot 56 percent for the half and were in a good rhythm.

Nets got the lead to double digits early in the third and stayed aggressive the entire quarter. Paul Pierce started to find a groove scoring nine points in the quarter. The lead was as high as 14 points and the Nets led 75-64 after three.

Brooklyn was sent reeling in the fourth as the Heat out hustled and beat them to every loose ball. The Heat took the lead 86-84 with two minutes to play until Pierce hit a 3-pointer to give Brooklyn back the lead.

The game was tied at 89 with 40.8 seconds and the Nets had two chances to score and could not with the second being a Paul Pierce fall away jumper at the horn.

Overtime was a 4-to-4 struggle that did nothing but foul out the ever whiny James.

The Nets went on a 11-0 run to start second overtime and the Heat looked out of gas.  The overtime ended 11-2 in favor of the streaking Nets.

“Everybody on this team knows his journey,” said Kevin Garnett, who finished  his first double-double of the season about Livingston. “Everybody is very familiar with the story, and it couldn’t happen to a better dude, a better individual.

“I’ve seen him work every day, and I’m just proud to be his teammate and I’m glad things are, at some point, turning for him. I’m happy for him, and we’re all happy for him.”
