The Brooklyn Nets beat the Miami Heat last night by a score of 101-100 in Brooklyn in their home opener.

[box] The Nets were looking to bounce back from their opening night loss to the Cavaliers and they had their chance with the defending champions coming to town.

In the pregame tons of reporters peppered LeBron James with questions about Brooklyn and he repeatedly declined to talk about Nets.

He still took a subtle shot and said “KG already told me to worry about my own team.”

The Nets played well to start the game and put the Heat on their heels in front of a raucous sellout crowd at Barclays Center.

The Nets won the first and third quarters and lost the second and fourth quarters so there is room for improvement but the night was electric from the beginning.

The Nets had nine players play 19 minutes and only one went over 30 minutes in Paul Pierce which is a testament to great balance and good coaching.

The passion was there again coming out of halftime as the Nets took an 11 point lead into the final quarter only to hold on for dear life and escape with an impressive home win.

[quote_box]”We beat them,” Williams said with a smile. “We feel like when we step on the floor we can beat anybody. That’s the mentality you have to have going into every game, and that’s the mentality we’re going to continue to have.”[/quote_box]

KEY STATS: Nets bench outscored the Heat 36-22 and none players had at least six points.  The Nets also outrebounded the Heat 40-30

Jason Kidd once again named Joe Prunty to be the acting head coach in his final game of his suspension.
