The Brooklyn Nets beat the Golden State Warriors by a score of 102-98 in Brooklyn.

The Warriors came out on fire in the first quarter and hit the Nets right in the mouth going 13-for-17 from the field for 76% and going 6-for-7 from 3-point range to open up a 32-22 lead after one.  The Warriors grabbed everything imaginable and out-rebounded the Nets 13-3 to make matters worse.

Things did not look good for the Nets but somehow they completely turned the tables on the Warriors and dropped 37 points in the second to lead 59-52 at half. The Warriors scored only 20 points in the quarter and lost rebound battle 13-to-5 to even it out going into the break.

The third quarter was a struggle for both teams as the Nets went 4-for-15 from field and were outscored 24-16 to bring the game right back to Golden State. It was a parade from the free throw line for both teams with a total of 18 free throws being taken in the third quarter alone.

The Warriors led 76-75 after the brutal third and the battle was on for a Nets four-game win streak or an NBA record seven-game road win streak for the Warriors was one.

Joe Johnson was solid all night long with constant penetration into the lane for his patented runners.  When the Nets needed a bucket to stem a run they went to “Joe, Jesus” for the bucket.  Johnson finished the game with 27 points on 8-for-17 shooting and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

The game was back and forth in the final quarter as Steph Curry (34 points) flashed some of his magic from long range and running multiple Nets defenders off screens to free up his teammates.

Andrei Kirilenko brought his usual energy and effort that led to a few magical plays.  He had a huge save of a shot that hit off the backboard, a big tip to eliminate a shot clock turnover in the fourth and one huge steal in the final minute to help Brooklyn get the job done.

Kevin Garnett came up big in the fourth shooting 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line for 11 big points.

Brooklyn hit 11-out of- 12 free throws in the final four minutes to hold off the streaking Warriors for the big home win 102-98.

“I work on my craft every day, so I expect it to be a certain way,” Garnett said. “When I got to dial her up, I want her to pick the phone up. Tonight, I dialed and she was right there and answered like she was supposed to.

“I work really hard on my craft, and tonight I was able to get into a nice little groove, and some shots fell.”
