Could Roy Rogers be joining Jason Kidd and possibly Lawrence Frank in Brooklyn?

Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned last week that Kidd was pursuing Frank and Tim Grgurich as his lead assistants on his coaching staff.

It wouldn’t shock anyone to see Rogers become the Nets big man coach as he once was in 2008/09 under then head coach Frank.

Fred Kerber mentioned later that “Brook Lopez RAVES about working with Rogers and that his 2 best rebounding years came with Rogers”

Kidd is targeting former Detroit Pistons and Nets coach Lawrence Frank and the well-respected Tim Grgurich to be part of his coaching staff, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Kidd wants Frank to serve as his top assistant coach and Grgurich to also have a significant role on his bench. Frank is owed more than $3 million in the next two years as part of his buyout with the Pistons, and Grgurich spent only a part of the past season as a consultant with George Karl and the Denver Nuggets.

Frank and Grgurich are two of the most pursued assistant coaching candidates on the market.[/quote_simple]

“We couldn’t finalize a deal with Roy Rogers,” Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said. “We have withdrawn our offer. As the contract process unfolded, we have decided that it’s best for the Suns to look elsewhere. Financial considerations were not a factor.”

Rogers has been a NBA assistant for five seasons with Detroit, Boston and New Jersey.[/quote_simple]
