[quote_simple]NETS STARTERS
The starting lineup tonight will be  Deron Williams playing alongside Shaun Livingston in the backcourt with Alan Anderson, Paul Pierce up front and the man in the middle Kevin Garnett.

The Nets have won nine of last 11 at Barclays Center so hopefully a better game will be played after the debacle in Detroit Friday night.

Brooklyn was limited to 36.0 percent shooting, outrebounded 57-40.and outscored 52-38 in the paint in the Pistons 111-95 drubbing

Jason Terry scored a season-high 18 points off the bench and hit six 3-pointers in garbage time to lead the Nets sorry effort in Detroit.

PELICANS STARTERS

The Pelicans starting lineup will be Brian Roberts and Eric Gordon in the backcourt with Al Farouq Aminu, Anthony Davis and  Alexis Ajinca playing in the frontcourt.

New Orleans is playing much better basketball lately and improved to 6-2 over their last eight games.

The Pelicans are 17-5 when holding opponents to 100 points or fewer compared to 5-22 when they don’t.

Newly anointed All-Star Davis is playing great and will have to have a big game for the Pelicans to have a chance at a road win in Brooklyn.

[quote_simple][box]Game Notes:

Nets are going for their 10th victory in their last 12 games at Barclays Center.

Pelicans go for a season best-tying third straight win.

The Nets and Pelicans meet tonight for the first of two games this season.

[quote_simple]WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Streak into the All-Star break

The Nets laid a complete egg on Friday night when they went to Detroit and gave zero effort and energy all night long.  It was so bad that Jason Kidd waived the white flag in the third quarter after the Pistons lead reached 36 points.

The entire game was awful all around and even if Garnett played I don’t think it would have mattered as the 57-40 rebounding edge told the story.

Brooklyn is not good enough to roll the ball out in front of a sad 1,500 fans and expect to win.  If they play without passion today it will cost them with the young Pelicans playing well right now.

This is a game that the Nets need to start a streak with the Bobcats coming in on Wednesday and the Bulls on the road after that right before the break next week.
