Sixers 92 – Nets 95

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Philadelphia Sixers 95-92 in Brooklyn today in agonizing fashion as the last few minutes were a series of crazy 3-pointers made and free throws made and missed.

Nets had single digits turnovers with nine and looked to be spreading the ball around with better ball movement like we saw in November. After a sluggish start getting down 12-4 early the Nets regrouped and ran off an 18-0 run and would never give up the lead again. The Nets had six players in double figures and things looked much smoother while the defense looked tighter.

They had three days off before this game and it gave Avery Johnson time to change the offense. Avery admitted he put in and installed a whole new offense on Friday. Some of that was very evident today in end of game sets that got Deron Williams a big 3-pointer and layup. They were installed the last 2 days and they were the Utah sets.

The Nets showed signs of getting back to the team that started the year and hope to follow this division win with another on Christmas hosting the Boston Celtics at noon.

Nets Notes:

Avery Johnson said Humphries not playing was a coach’s decision and insists that Humphries isn’t in his dog house.

Avery indicating that the starting lineup with Gerald at the PF is what the Nets will do going forward.

MarShon Brooks did not play with a coach’s decision as well.

Toko Shengelia got some minutes early in the second quarter which is a good sign for him.
