#Nets Recap: #Nets 107 – #Magic 68
The Nets wanted to make a statement in Orlando and make sure the trend from the last two games of giving horrible effort and playing bad defense would not continue.
Brook Lopez dominated the Magic frontline from the beginning and dropped 11 pts 6 rebs in first quarter which ended with the Nets leading 19-17. The Nets had an 8 point lead early in quarter but turnovers again plagued them early from pulling away from the Magic.
The second unit came in led by CJ Watson and Andray Blatche, 9pts and 5rebs, alongside Jerry Stackhouse, who made his Nets debut and thought it was 2002 again and dropped 3 threes to go into halftime with 11 pts.
The Nets played stifling defense in that second quarter all sparked by the second unit and all this without Marshon Brooks due to a sprained ankle. The halftime lead was 50-36.
Nets led 75-51 going into 4th with JJ getting a little rhythm going with the second unit and was productive along with Blatche continuing to abuse the smaller Magic frontline.
Blatche was extremely active with Evans alongside him and that tandem has been very productive with limited court time.
Garbage time came quickly as the starters sat most of the fourth quarter and watched Teletovic and Shengalia play well and Toko had a ferocious tomahawk slam on a breakaway. Tyshawn Taylor also got some good game experience and continued to impress with his speed and jump shot.
All in all this was a far cry from the last two games and the all around game, other than a few minutes in the first and fourth quarters, was solid while the intensity was off the charts.
