Nets C.J. Watson To Opt Out?
News around the NBA today brought some bad information to the Brooklyn Nets and it isn’t about their coaching search.
Peter Vecsey is reporting that the Nets backup point guard C.J Watson will opt out of his $1.1 million player option and become and unrestricted free agent to test the market.
Watson was a solid find for Billy King last offseason for the veterans minimum and played a big role for the Nets off the bench backing up Deron Williams.
The loss of Watson could be huge for Brooklyn as they don’t have the cap room to sign a top-tier backup point guard. The options will be limited now to the players willing to take the minimum and that crop is not overwhelming.
Tyshawn Taylor could be an answer for the Nets although he is raw and may not be a good fit if Brian Shaw is hired and wants to run the triangle offense.
This is just one more decision that King will have to make to fill this roster out in year two of Brooklyn.
C.J. Watson plans 2 opt out of contract (1.1M) 2 become UFA. Meaning Nets in market 4 point able 2 get shots 4 Deron when they team up…
