Stop me if you have heard this before but the Brooklyn Nets are lacking effort and energy after losing their fourth straight game with three at home and the other in overtime on the road.

It is really starting to unravel quickly with this team and tempers are starting to boil over from the coach right down to the players.

Jason Kidd had every right to let loose on his team yesterday after once again embarrassing Brooklyn and it fans on national television.

About damn time someone got mad about this lackadaisical, effortless, passionless, emotionless and just plain bad basketball that is being played by Brooklyn right now.Jason Kidd on sideline on Christmas day

This is the second year in a row that the Nets have laid an egg on best basketball holiday of the year.  It is actually sad because right after kids all over the world opened up all of their new presents and put on all their new Nets gear they had to sit and watch that pathetic display.

For basketball fans everywhere Christmas is the “unofficial” start to the NBA season with five All-Star laden matchups for all the people sitting at home with their families to watch.

Teams and fans usually know what kind of team they have by Christmas Day and Brooklyn fans know one thing – this team is just bad and doesn’t seem to give a damn about it on the floor.

The Yule log was better television than what the Nets put on display yesterday and it is at the point of being just plain UNACCEPTABLE.

The comments tell the entire story.

[quote_box]Jason Kidd: “I think again, it’s easy, it’s simple,” Kidd told reporters. “When we don’t put the ball in the basket or we miss shots that are makeable, it translates to our defense of transition for us where we’ll give up a layup and then that turns into another layup for the opposing team. … That is the carryover of missing shots and not giving the effort. The bottom line is effort, and we’re not doing that right now.

“At the end of the day, the coach can only hold you responsible for energy and effort,” Kidd said. “If you’re not giving it, I have to take you out. If you’re missing shots, that’s just part of the game. But if you’re not giving energy or effort, I’ve got to take you out.”

Paul Pierce:  “Our record shows we are not a good team right now,” Pierce said. “We are 9-19. I mean, we’ve got a lot of work to do. Our goal is still to improve, but when you are 9-19, the record speaks for itself.

It’s embarrassing to lose on Christmas and in front of millions of people watching, but I’m not going to keep my head down. That’s the way we’ve got to be out there on the court. We’ve got to continue to keep pushing.”

Deron Williams: “I’m even surprised with this season, how it’s played out. It’s like a nightmare,” said Williams, who led the Nets with 18 points but had just four assists to go with three turnovers. “The way the injuries have been and the things we talk about every day: the lack of energy, the lack of effort. I didn’t see that being a problem when we put this team together.”

Andray Blatche: “We’re not,” Andray Blatche said. “We thought we were this championship team, but we’re not showing it right now. Getting booed at home, that tells us we’re not. That means we’re not doing enough. That means we’ve got to fix it as a unit. Not just one person, but all of us. Starting from the coaching staff to the players.” [/quote_box]
