Ian Eagle, one of the Brooklyn Nets broadcasters sat down with Chad Doing on Flight 750 Monday to discuss all things Nets and the crazy summer they have had.

He mentioned how the Nets lacked physical play in the Chicago series and how Kevin Garnett fixes that problem going forward.

One thing that Eagle intimated was how much of a role Garnett would have in bringing along Brook Lopez.

“He will do wonders for Lopez. Lopez is a guy that has more in him and we saw signs of that last year.” Eagle said ” Garnett will be on this guy every single day, in practice and from the bench.”

The additions of Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry to the Nets bench will make the team deeper and stronger.

Bottom line for Eagle is that the Nets are ready and able to compete in the Eastern Conference and further for the NBA championship in this two year window that Mikhail Prokhorov has granted them.

Eagle insists that Deron Williams is fully on board with the Nets bringing in Jason Kidd to coach the team.

“Deron Williams has come out and said Jason Kidd was his idol growing up.  He grew up in the Dallas area and was a huge Kidd fan and Kidd Ian Eagle cartoon picplayed a big role in his development as a player.”

Eagle also said that people should be on the lookout for the Nets in the Eastern Conference next season, because everybody is going all-in for hopes of a championship.

“If they would have just signed Kirilenko this off season, if that would have been the only addition to this team, I think a lot of NBA pundits would have said ‘Wow, they got better!’…Now you’re talking about Garnett, Pierce, and Terry as an addition – Yes it’s a two-year window, but they’re serious.  They’re serious about winning.  They’re serious about making a legitimate run at this thing.”[/quote_simple]
