GAME 2: Nets 102 – Pistons 90

The Brooklyn Nets went into Detroit on Saturday night licking their wounds and tried to put their Game One debacle in the rear view mirror as fast as possible.

They Nets followed the quiet assassin, Joe Johnson’s, lead and had a solid complete game win that allows all Nets fans to have hope that this team can compete for a top four seed come playoff time.

Simply put Johnson was “unguardable” all night long. By anyone.

It was an impressive win that had Kevin Garnett post his Nets career-high with 18 points to go with his 14 rebounds and a surprisingly spry Deron Williams seem to find his form with 15 points and 6 assists.  Mirza Teletovic had another solid game with 12 points and 7 rebounds as well.

Still only Game 2.

STAT OF THE GAME:

The Nets played much better while moving the ball fluidly committing only 8 turnovers for the entire game.

The Nets defense did a very good job on the much bigger frontcourt of the Pistons and actually out-rebounded them 48-41 and grabbed 12 offensive rebounds in the process.

STATS:

LEADING SCORERS:

Joe Johnson – 34 points on 14-for-23 shooting and 3-for-8 from deep.

Greg Monroe – 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting and he grabbed seven rebounds

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Joe Johnson – Johnson was unstoppable throughout the game and his 34 points weren’t the only stat as he grabbed 8 rebounds while dishing out 6 assists.  Joe Jesus’ made the entire Palace of Auburn Hills watch in amazement as he took on every defender and double team they threw at him and dominated each and every one.  It was a special game for Joe.
