Could Marshon Brooks Be Traded on Draft Day?

There is news out today that the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Brooklyn Nets are talking about a trade involving shooting guard Marshon Brooks.

The Nets are in the market for a backup point guard with C.J. Watson opting out of his contract.

The Timberwolves have a bunch of point guards right now and will probably look to trade one of them this offseason or even on draft day.

The Nets were very interested in Andrei Kirilenko this past offseason but chose to use that money to sign Mirza Teletovic to the full mid-level exception.

Kirilenko would be a great fit for Brooklyn who is need of a power forward and his size and athleticism is exactly what Jason Kidd is looking for.  No trade could be done for Kirilenko until he opts into his contract with the Timberwolves.

The Nets will probably be very busy come draft day and most think Brooks and Kris Humphries days are numbered in Brooklyn at this point.

Brooks seems to be the most expendable piece for the Nets and his youth and small contract could be enticing for other teams looking to shed salaries.

The Brooklyn Nets are trying to find a home for their 2011 first-round selection, MarShon Brooks. Sources say the Nets are trying to land a second first-rounder in return. One team to watch is the Minnesota Timberwolves. If the Wolves will give the Nets the No. 26 pick in return, they’ll probably have a deal on draft night.[/quote_simple]
