Jason Kidd will be watching the Brooklyn Nets draft workouts firsthand the last few days prior to the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

A couple of the players that will be working have been mentioned as possible picks for the Nets at 22 if they keep the pick.

Alan Crabbe, Gorgui Dieng and Tim Hardaway Jr. are among the notable names that intrigue the Nets.

You would think that the idea of having to go back and take another look at some players like that could potentially be an issue for a scouting group trying to take advantage of every possible moment in the limited amount of time left leading up to the draft. But for Nets director of player personnel Gregg Polinsky, having Kidd’s perspective – coming off a Hall of Fame career – will only be a benefit to the process.

“Obviously we embrace it and welcome it, because of the type of player that he was, and his eye for the players and how they might fit and work for what he wants to do,” Polinsky said after the team held its latest workout at its practice facility Wednesday.

“It’s invaluable. It’s important. For him to have a feel about the guy and meet him, not just as much seeing him out here in this workout, because we have a ton of video he can watch, his staff, to get a feel of what they think. It doesn’t disrupt the flow of what we’re doing at all. I just think it adds another dimension that is very important for us to making a final decision.”

“I’ll be very lightly involved,” he said with a smile at Yankee Stadium before throwing out the first pitch before the second half of Wednesday’s day-night doubleheader between the Yankees and Dodgers. “They’ll probably ask for my opinion, and that’s it. I won’t be heavily involved.”[/quote_simple]
