Carlesimo Won't Change Starting Lineup For Game 4

The Brooklyn Nets offense has been utterly putrid the past two games and it is become increasingly obvious that Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans cannot be on the floor at the same time for extended periods of time against the Chicago Bulls.

STATS: The Nets are -26 with Evans and Wallace on the floor and +37 without them together against the Bulls in this series.

I detailed this problem on SYNNets today so click to read my thoughts……

Below are some quotes (via Stefan Bondy) from practice today from interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo where he stated he won’t change the starting lineup but will look to put in subs quicker if the offense struggles.

[quote_simple]““Thoughts about it (changing the starting lineup)? Yeah,” Carlesimo said. But we’re not going to change the starting lineup. If we’re struggling offensively then we need to address that. If changing the lineup or changing who we put on the floor helps us to score points then we’re going to have to do that. …It’s a tough balance because some of the problems we have is not because those guys (Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans) are not scoring. If we do some of the things that we normally do – if we make some threes, if we finish in the paint, then we’re okay and we can take advantage of other guys skill sets.

“And not just say, ‘to hell with it, let’s just put an offensive team out there.’ Because that’ll get you in trouble where all of a sudden we’re not as good defensively anymore. We’re not as good rebounding anymore. By the fourth quarter last night, we had to score points. Whether we get that dramatically where we have to change the lineup five minutes into the game, I don’t know. But it’s certainly a concern going forward.”[/quote_simple]

Something has to change in order for Brooklyn to have a chance to win this series and personnel changes need to be made to enable that.
