The Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King went on SiriusXM Radio this morning and talked about his start point guard’s situation and where it stands.

King told the radio show that “‘We’re aiming for Deron Williams to return on MLK day against the New York Knicks.”

Williams has been out since January 4th with the same chronic ankle issues that have plagued him the past two season.  Williams had cortisone shots and PRP treatment (platelet-rich plasma) in both ankles almost two weeks ago in the hopes that it will rejuvenate him the way it did last season right after the All-Star break.

More from the King interview from ESPNNY:

“Yeah, I think we’re gonna wait and see how he feels when he gets back,” King said Thursday on SiriusXM NBARadio. “I mean, that was the goal, to try to give him two weeks off and see how he feels. I know he’s been working back at home. The goal if he’s ready to play [is Monday], if not play Tuesday, if not then it would be that Friday. But just like with [Andrei Kirilenko] we wanted to give Deron as much a chance to get healthy as possible, because we’ve still got a lot of season to go.” [/quote_box]

All Nets fans are hoping for a repeat of last season after D-Will had this treatment but no one will really know until he goes out there and is hopefully pain free for the remaining stretch of the season which will likely lead to the playoffs.
