Billy King made an appearance on WFAN this morning and gave some pertinent information about the Nets roster and their new coach.

King said Jason Kidd will coach the Brooklyn Nets Summer League team in Orlando July 7-12.

This is not a common occurrence for an NBA head coach to coach the summer league team although becoming a head coach of an NBA just 10 days after retiring isn’t a normal situation either.  I am sure it will help Kidd in his transition more than anything.

He later mentioned that C.J. Watson will likely opt out of his current 1.1 million contract and has discussed potential options to play backup point guard to Deron Williams.

There may not be that many replacements of Watson’s caliber that can be had for the veterans minimum but I am sure King and Kidd will get it done.

Tyshawn Taylor is still in the mix and if anyone can benefit from Kidd as coach it should be Taylor.

Kidd has made the rounds today on the talk shows with appearances on Mike and Mike, WFAN and also the Dan Patrick Show but one way to know you have officially made it in New York is to throw out the first pitch at a New York Yankees  game.

Kidd will do just that on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
