The 2013 Video Music Awards came to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday night and the showed rocked the gorgeous new arena to its core.

The Beastie Boys’ 1987 hit “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” was the theme song for the night in the home of the Brooklyn Nets where Jay Z opened the building with his concerts last summer.

The show has a brand new redesigned version of the classic “Moonman” statue award which was done by Brooklyn artist KAWS.

The show added a few nuances this year with the use of various cameras from around the area to help capture the happenings from various spots via live stream.

MTV executive Colin Helms said of the unique live streaming experience that was available to viewers on laptops, tables and all mobile devices:

“In Brooklyn, there will be cameras on the red carpet, ones outside the dressing rooms, ones to get audience reactions and one to capture performers right as they come off stage. You’ll get a 360 (degree) view.”

Drake, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Daft Punk, Kanye West, and Bruno Mars all performed on the Barclays Center stage throughout the evening while everyone who is somebody in music world watched.
