As the Nets turn: Brook Lopez deal to OKC “on hold for now”
SOURCES: There are new players in the Brook Lopez trade speculation and they are the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets.
News has come down in recent minutes that the Brooklyn Nets have backed away from trade discussions for their center Brook Lopez “for now” and will reassess the market in the coming weeks.
The Nets also have interest in acquiring Thaddeus Young from the struggling Timberwolves as part of a culture change in Brooklyn and are NOT just trying to dump Lopez for salary cap purposes. Brooklyn is looking to get players that can help now in return for their big man.

If Brook Lopez dealt to OKC today, Nets would be on hook for $1.25 million trade kicker based on remaining $8,321,856 of his 2014-15 salary

Reason being: Brook Lopez is at salary level this season that prevents him from collecting on his trade kicker even though it’s in contract

More importantly: Sources say one option that strongly interests Nets, IF Brook L trade goes down, is trying to deal Perk for Thaddeus Young

Brooklyn is deciding, for now, not to move on Brook Lopez deal to OKC, per source. Can always change back in a hurry w/one phone call, tho.

Nets want to make moves, obviously, but they also want players back who’ll fit w/Hollins’s system, & aren’t looking to just dump salary.
