Would Brian Shaw Work In Brooklyn?
The more you read the more you see that Brian Shaw looks to be the guy the Brooklyn Nets have set their sights on hiring.
The Nets have not interviewed anyone since they let P.J. Carlesimo go and while management is still in Italy scouting. Word around the league is that they want Shaw and his version of the “triangle offense” to run the show in Brooklyn. The Nets look to be a good fit for the triangle offense as they have the main pieces needed to be successful in their starting five minus the power forward position.
Fred Kerber is a legend around these parts and has seen the Nets at their worst as well as at their best so he has great insight.
Today he let’s us know what Indiana Pacer GM Donnie Walsh thinks of his highly sought after assistant head coach.

The sweat hardly had dried on Indiana’s season when the Nets contacted the Pacers seeking permission to talk with Shaw, which was granted. Six teams asked Indiana president of basketball operations Donnie Walsh for that OK.
Shaw also is coveted by the Clippers and Nuggets, which does not surprise Walsh, who raves over Shaw’s communication skills.
“He is a really good head coach waiting to happen,” Walsh said. “He has the player experience but he has spent his time as an assistant with a lot of good coaches, particularly Phil Jackson. Now he’s been through the situation with us.”
“He’s got a special way that he presents things to players where they have a lot of confidence in what he tells them,” Walsh said. “He’s firm without yelling and screaming. If they screw up, you’ll see him get right up at the timeout, go right to them, grab them aside and tell them: ‘You can’t do that.’ But he does it the right way.
“He’s got the knowledge, the presence required for a head coach and he’s got the demeanor to do it.”
One league source who originally said his “gut” told him the Nets wanted an “established” coach has reversed his position and feels Shaw is their man.
“I heard right after they [Pacers] lost to Miami, the Nets were in contact. It struck me the Nets were really interested and I’ve heard that from different people,” he said.[/quote_simple]
