Raptors 106 – Nets 113

The Nets came out a bit sluggish tonight as they tried to get a season high seventh win in a row.  The Raptors were scrappy and hung around for a bit and were able to go shot for shot with the Nets in an ugly first quarter.  The game changed in the second quarter when PJ Carlesimo inserted Mirza Teletovic for Reggie Evans it immediately paid dividends.  Teletovic hit a 3-pointer and followed it up with a great six minutes to come away with a solid 10 points in the second.  Nets grabbed the lead 54-50 at halftime.

The second half started with both teams going back and forth in the early parts of the third until the Nets, behind the Big 3, started to hit shots and get multiple stops to build a 12 point lead.  Brook Lopez was solid from the start and ended with 22 points and nine rebounds in only 28 minutes of play.

Carlesimo went small in the fourth with Deron Williams leading the Bench Mob to an exciting up and down final quarter.  Williams finished with a solid 22 points and seven assists along with Joe Johnson’s 21 points, five rebounds and five assists.  The Nets had five players in double figures and solid all around production from everyone.

It was good that Carlesimo was able to limit Lopez minutes with a game tomorrow night at Atlanta in the first game of a home and home.

STAT OF THE NIGHT: Deron Williams has hit 40 straight free throws going into Atlanta
