The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Washington Wizards last night by a score of 113-107  in Brooklyn.

The Nets were looking to win back-to-back games at home and facing the Wizards for the second time this season was a great chance to do so.

That chance by by the boards, literally, as the Nets could not  man up all night long and allowed the Wizards to get almost every rebound and dominate them inside.

The Nets were manhandled on the boards (51-31) and gave up an astonishing 19 offensive rebounds which the Wizards turned into 23 points.

The Wizards shot 12-20 from 3-point range (60 percent) to the Nets 9-for-21 (43 percent).

Credit the Nets for staying in this game all the way until the end even with the horrendous rebounding, or lack thereof, and the way Paul Pierce played has to be something the Nets can build on.

Brook Lopez had a very solid first half scoring 18 of his 22 points but only grabbed five rebounds.

Deron Williams ran the show again and dropped 13 assists to go with 15 points on 5-of-13 shots.  He did have a big turnover late in the game and also was blocked by John Wall (21 points) in the final minutes that affected the outcome of the game.

“This was a tough loss for us. This was a team that we felt like we could beat, but unfortunately they’ve beaten us twice in two close games and we’ll figure this thing out.”

“They did a good job of putting us in rotation with the pick-and-roll,” Pierce said. “[John] Wall did a great job of putting pressure on the bigs when they helped. [The] weak-side big would crash, leaving a guard on a big trying to box out all night long, and it worked to their advantage. When they didn’t hit the roll man, if he didn’t finish, they caught [the] opposite big on our smalls all night long.”
