The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 120-95  in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn was looking to shake off the last second debacle against the Raptors from Monday with four days to get things corrected and get ready to welcome the NBA’s hottest team in Oklahoma City.

The time off obviously did not help in any way as this game was over by the end of the first quarter.

The Thunder came out and shot 13-for-18 in first quarter for 72 percent to jump out to a 30-16 lead after one behind 10 points from Serge Ibaka. OKC hadand nine assists to the Nets one.  The Nets shot a putrid 36 percent and were out-rebounded 11-4 and looked bad in the process with four turnovers and at least six wide open shots missed.  Brooklyn may not have scored at all without Shaun Livingston in the first with 10 points.

The second quarter was more of the same. The Thunder playing with passion and the Nets going through the motions and losing the quarter 33-19.  It was downright awful as Brooklyn shot a miserable 34 percent to Oklahoma City’s 65 percent at half. Durant had 22 of the easiest points ever seen in the NBA on 8-of-9 shooting and barely broke a sweat. The key stat of the half was the assist totals with the Thunder dishing 14 to the Nets lowly three. All around embarrassing half of basketball in all as the Thunder led 63-35 at intermission.

The third quarter was no different from the first two with more uninspired and turnover prone basketball and the lead ballooned to 89-59 after three.

The game got so out of hand that Jason Kidd did not know who to play in the fourth so he went with the newly acquired Marquis Teague for first time as a Net.

Andray Blatche left the game in the third with a bruised hip and did not return.

Deron Williams looks like a shell of himself right now and doesn’t even look like he should start on any NBA team let alone the Brooklyn Nets.

“The offense can’t dictate defense, but sometimes it does,” Garnett said. “But whatever we do, we have to get back on the horse we were once on, get back to being consistent, playing with each other, and sharing the ball.”

KEY STATS: The Nets set an NBA record for the fewest number or rebounds in a 48 minute game with a lowly 17 rebounds.  They were out-rebounded 41-17 in all.

PLAYER OF THE GAMEKevin Durant’s streak of 30-plus scoring games was halted at 12, but only because the Thunder was so effective and efficient against the Nets that the game wasn’t close after the first quarter.

NEXT UP: The Nets will be back in action Saturday night when they travel to the Indiana Pacers in Indiana.  The game can be seen on YES at 7:00.
