VIDEO RECAP – FINAL: #Nets 97 – #Grizzlies 88

The Brooklyn Nets beat the Memphis Grizzlies last night by a score of 97-88 in Memphis.
The Nets came out with a better mindset in this game and the effort was visible right from the opening tip. Maybe the benching of the starters in Houston the night before struck a chord with some guys and woke them up.
Joe Johnson was the leader to start the game with 16 big points in the first quarter on 5-of-8 shooting and 3-for-4 from the 3-point line. The scoring barrage gave the Nets a much needed 24-19 first quarter lead and some confidence.
Andray Blatche, another starter that was benched in Houston, came out strong as well with 21 points and did some damage from behind the arc and also on the offensive glass. Blatche had a career high three 3-pointers and hit all three of his attempts to go with eight solid rebounds.
Jason Kidd started Tyshawn Taylor to take some of the minutes off a struggling Shaun Livingston and it worked for the most part with Taylor penetrating the lane and pushing the tempo. he did get called for multiple carry violations and that needs to be looked at but all in all he played some good minutes.
The game changed in the fourth when Memphis hit a bunch of 3-pointers to cut the lead to 75-74 but Mirza Teletovic stopped the run with an in the lane jump hook and a big 3-pointer right after that to once again extend the lead. The Nets never looked back after that with the offense flowing through Brook Lopez in the fourth where he score 12 of his 20 points to go with nine rebounds.
The Nets can breathe a sign of relief after playing 11 out of the first 17 games on the road and now will play 13 of the next 19 games at home in Brooklyn.

[box]KEY STATS: The Nets only committed 10 total fouls in the entire game.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Joe Johnson, playing close to his hometown in Arkansas, set the tempo for the Nets early and finished with a game-high 23 points, six assists and five rebounds.
