VIDEO – FINAL: #Nets 97 – #Celtics 101
The Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets last night by a score of 101-97 at the TD Bank Garden in Boston.
[box] The Nets went into the game without any of the normal starting five in the lineup so the “second team” had the entire game to work together and build come continuity. That is not what happened.
The game started out pretty well for the Nets as they played great defense and ran out to a 14-5 lead in the first quarter only to see the lead and the defense dissipate quickly as the subs played lackluster defense turning the ball over at an alarming rate.
The defense was nowhere near good as the Nets gave up 30 points in the second quarter after only allowing 19 points in the first. Tyshawn Taylor , 15 points, showed a few glimpses of breaking out and drove to the basket with reckless abandon early on but could not steer the ship enough to get a win.
Reggie Evans had his usual tough game with 11 points and eight rebounds in 16 minutes of play and hit a miraculous 5-of-7 from the free throw line.
Shaun Livingston continued his strong play in his limited minutes and the opposite can be said for Andray Blatche. Blatche decided that he would play the role of Ray Allen and shoot six 3-pointers, yes SIX, and hit only two. Get in the paint big man!
The defense allowed weak side cuts to the basket all night long and the unknown Spainard, Vitor Faverani, was made to look like Wilt Chamberlain by the atrocious interior defense of Brooklyn.
Not a good loss at all for Brooklyn as the turnovers and allowed dominance in the paint was disturbing.
[box]NOTES: Jason Terry made his Nets debut and scored seven points on 3-for-7 shooting and a miserable 1-for-5 from beyond the arc.
“I thought I felt pretty good, still a little rusty,” Terry said. “You could see that at times…. But other than that, it was good to be out there with my teammates. My wind was good, so my conditioning was great. I look forward to getting after it against Miami.”[/box]
NEXT UP: The Nets will visit the Miami Heat on Friday night the 25th and the game will be televised on ESPN as well as YES.
