The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Indiana Pacers by a score of 105-91 in Indiana. The Nets went to Indiana and put their 14th different starting lineup of the season season on the floor.  Guess what? It did not work.

The Nets shot 50 percent in the first half and played with great energy on defense so with that came a ton of deflections and steals.  Not something we have seen much of during this lethargic season so it was for sure a good sign.

Brooklyn outscored the Pacers in the paint 28-22 in first half and they forced 10 turnovers to their four turnovers.

The two most aggressive Nets were Mirza Teletovic and Paul Pierce who combined for 22 points. The Nets found themselves in this game at half down 58-56.

Now came the dreaded third quarter that all Nets fans fear.

It started off with four straight turnovers on isolation plays and Indiana ran off a 14-5 run to lead to 72-61.  The lid came over the basket and the Nets stopped being aggressive so their heads once again went down.  The third quarter ended 28-20 in favor of the Pacers.  Enough said.

Pierce (18 points) tried to spare the Nets from getting routed with a big 3-pointer and a fadeaway on consecutive possessions but no one followed his lead, especially Deron Williams who looked deflated and lost on the floor.

The Nets scored a whopping 35 points after half to once again be blown out 105-91.

Teletovic ended with 17 points and four rebounds on 7-for-13 shooting.

Brooklyn is 0-18 when trailing after three quarters and is 0-15 when giving up more than 100 points.  Let that sink in.

Paul Pierce – “You almost have to be flawless [to win here], and when you come out and are sloppy with the ball in the third quarter like we did — we didn’t get shots up, we turned the ball over … it’s tough to come back from that.”
