The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Orlando Magic last night by a score of 107-86  in Orlando last night.

[box] The Nets were looking to build on their nice home win against the defending champion Miami Heat with a trip to Orlando and another win.  That is not what happened at all.

Brooklyn came out shooting jump shots from the very beginning and it turned out to be their downfall all game.  The younger and more athletic Magic were quicker to every ball and shockingly out-rebounded the Nets 54-to-42.

The game was close even though the Nets shot so poorly through the first half and were only down 41-38.  The killer was a third quarter that began with a 17-4 Magic run and they pushed the lead to over 20 points.  The Nets could not recover as the basket seemed to have a seal on it.

Brooklyn went 4-for-17 from 3-point range and the Nets’ backcourt of Deron Williams and Joe Johnson were a combined 5-for-17 from the field.  Brook Lopez (21 points)  and Paul Pierce (16 points) were the only Nets to crack double figures.

[quote_box]”The win against Miami doesn’t mean a thing when you come here and lay an egg, which is what we did,” Williams said. “We knew they were a young team and were going to play hard. We had to be ready to match their intensity and we weren’t. They looked like they wanted it more and that is unacceptable.”[/quote_box]

Jason Kidd made his coaching debut after serving his two-game suspension for his DUI case but certainly was not happy with the play of his team.

[quote_box]”Being a bigger team is being able to rebound the ball, and we just didn’t do that tonight.” Kidd said.[/quote_box]

KEY STATS: The Nets allowed 42 points in the paint to the Magic and shot a miserable 38% from the floor.

[box]NOTES: Magic rookie Victor Oladipo played great and had 19 points, six rebounds, four assist and two steals.  He also provided the highlight of the night with a non foul call that led to a 360 slam dunk.

NEXT UP:  The Nets will now go back home and face the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night in Brooklyn at 7:30pm and the game can be seen on YES.[/box]
