The Brooklyn Nets beat the New York Knicks by a score of 103-80 in Manhattan.

Jason Kidd decided before the game that Deron Williams would come off the bench for the first time as a Nets player and the first time since Feb. 22,2006 in Utah.

The game started with the Nets once again featuring Joe Johnson in the first quarter and he did not disappoint with 10 points and a couple of 3-pointers in the first eight minutes to help the Nets to a 21-12 lead.

Nets played a great first quarter where they shot 52 percent and forced seven Knicks turnovers.  They also dished out eight assists to lead 27-16 after one behind Johnson’s 12 points. He has scored 67 points in his last six first quarters which has tremendously helped Brooklyn get off to good starts.

The Nets lead grew to 46-28 with four to play in second and the Knicks tried to hang on for dear life from the foul line.  The Knicks had 14 more free throw attempts than Nets in the first half and Brooklyn shot 51 percent behind Johnson’s 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting. The Nets had 20 points in the paint to lead 52-38 at half.

The Nets held the Knicks to 33.3% shooting (11-33) in the 1st half, the 2nd-lowest shooting percentage the Nets have allowed in any half this season.

The Knicks opened the third on a 6-0 run but the Nets responded with a 14-6 run to keep the lead at 16 points. Another Johnson 3-pointer gave the Nets a lead of 19 with two minutes left in the third. Nets finished the third up 71-55 and the crowd started to boo the Knicks.

Deron Williams, 10 points and three assists in 24 minutes, found his groove starting the fourth with a dazzling display of dribbling and fadeaway jump shots.  Mirza Teletovic also got into a groove hitting a couple of 3-pointers to make lead 84-61 with eight minutes to play.

Brooklyn then toyed with the Knicks for the last seven minutes and finished with a resounding 103-80 win behind a chorus of “Broooook-lyn” chants throughout the Garden.

Johnson led Brooklyn with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in 29 minutes.  Andray Blatche put up his second straight double-double with19 points and 12 rebounds.

“The trust is there defensively and on the offensive end,” Paul Pierce said. “We have gotten to the point where nobody cares who gets the touches. The ball will always find the right players and it is evident from the last couple of games the way we make the extra passes. The ball is going to find the right person if we continue to play unselfish.”
