The Brooklyn Nets were defeated by the Charlotte Bobcats in overtime by a score of 111-106 in Charlotte.

Quick Thoughts:

Deron Williams came out of the gates hot and hit 7-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-6 3-pointers for 18 points in the first to help the Nets be up 28-24 after one.  The Nets defense was once again n on existent in the second quarter where they gave up 34 points and only led 59-58 at half.  The second half was even worse as Al Jefferson dominated the Nets in the paint to finish with 35 points and 15 rebounds.  Charlotte’s 15 offensive rebounds came back to haunt Brooklyn late in the game and the nets could not put the Bobcats away.  Ex-Net Chris Douglas-Roberts hit a huge shot off another second chance with under 12 seconds remaining to ice it for the Bobcats.  Kemba Walker had 20 points and 12 assists for Charlotte as well.

Momentum Changers:

With 11.9 seconds to go in overtime and the shot clock winding down, Josh McRoberts drove the lane, only to have his shot blocked by Mason Plumlee. The ball went straight to Douglas-Roberts, who drained the 21-foot jumper as the shot clock buzzer sounded.

NUMBERS:

D-Will has recorded at least 1 steal in 20 straight games which is the longest active streak in NBA. Tied for 2nd-longest streak in the NBA this season.

Mirza Teletovic’s 4 three-pointers tonight are his most since making 5 vs. Philadelphia (2/3/14).  Teletovic’s 22 points are the most points he’s scored in a game since a career-high 34 points vs. Dallas.

Joe Johnson has made at least 1 three-pointer in 19 straight games, matching longest #Nets’ streak in last 3 seasons (D-Will 2/8-3/24/13).

The Nets’ 17 3-pointers are tied for the 3rd-most in franchise history.

Kidd’s Corner:

“I thought the defense was great, but in the end, we come up with a blocked shot, the ball bounces, and you know CDR, he makes a shot with the shot clock winding down and so everybody executed,” Nets coach Jason Kidd said. “The ball just bounced their way tonight.”
