The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Washington Wizards last night in overtime by a score of 112-108 in Washington.

[box] The Nets went into Washington hoping to not go 0-3 for the first time since 2009 but their hopes were dashed when they lost in overtime and let a winnable road game slip away.

Brook Lopez started the game in beast-mode and dominated the Wizards with 18 first half points on 8-for-10 shooting and led the Nets to a 58-53 halftime lead.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were of no help at all in the first half and played 25 minutes and shot 0-for-7 with seven rebounds

Washington came roaring out of halftime to put together a 26-8 run to turn a 13 point deficit into a 65-60 lead with less than eight minutes left in the third.  Jason Kidd went deep to the bench to try and find a spark and he got one with Shaun Livingston (12 points) and Alan Anderson (six points) who played until the final minutes of regulation.

The Wizards fought back late in the game behind Nene’s 12 points in the final 4 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter and his putback with 1.2 remaining to forced overtime.

After the Nets took the lead 106-105 in overtime the Wizards went on a game ending 7-2 run behind a 3-pointer by Trevor Ariza and clutch free throws by John Wall and Bradley Beal.

[quote_box]”He’s a pro. He put the uniform on, not feeling well,” first-year coach Jason Kidd said of Pierce. “But he came out and gave us everything he could. To be able to answer the call in that overtime, that just shows his leadership and being a professional.”
