The  Brooklyn Nets defeated the  Miami Heat last night by a score of 108-87  at American Airlines Arena in Miami.

[box] The news of the night belonged to Deron Williams as he made his first appearance of the preseason playing 10 minutes, going 4-for-5 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range.

Williams looked great from the start and made it look easy as he drained three straight 3-pointers in a span of 1:07 in the first quarter and then committed a foul on purpose, saluted his teammates and got a rest on the bench until the second quarter.

[quote_box]”I’ve been working out so hard, I wasn’t never worried about my wind,” Williams said. “I got a little tired, but nothing bad. I wasn’t huffing and puffing, didn’t have to touch my knees. I think the practice tomorrow will be tougher than the game.”[/quote_box]

Kevin Garnett (rest) and Andrei Kirilenko (back) had the night off so Andray Blatche started at the forward next to Brook Lopez and they looked good together.Paul Pierce and Dwayne Wade get into each others face

Paul Pierce got his groove back in this game and something tells me it has something to do with the Heat being on the other side of the floor. He scored 16 points on a solid 5-from-6 from the field and 3-fo-3 from 3-point range to add to his seven rebounds in 20 solid minutes of play.

One acquisition that it paying dividends early on is the Alan Anderson, who scored a team-high 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting, and looks to be a steal for Brooklyn.

This game turned into a blowout in the second quarter as the Nets hung 41 points on the Heat and were up 64-48 at half.

The one downside to this blowout victory for Brooklyn was the second straight game being DOMINATED inside by the opponent.

The Heat, who do not have an inside presence, got into the paint at will and outscored the Nets 54-32 in that area.  This has to change, and I assume it will change, when Garnett gets back on the floor so I am not to worried.
