The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 108-97 in Brooklyn.

Quick Thoughts:

The Nets started out blistering from behind the arc hitting 6-of-7 3-pointers in first six minutes and followed the lead of Paul Pierce who went 4-of-4 from beyond the arc in the first quarter for 17 points.  The Nets shot 60 percent for the quarter but were tied at 29 because of lack of defense again.  Brooklyn stretched the lead to 61-50 at halftime behind the bench which was led by Shaun Livingston.  The second unit played very well and helped the Nets all night and when the game got tight late in the third quarter the bench kept them in the game.  Jason Kidd allowed the entire bench with Livingston leading them play the entire fourth quarter and bring the win home for their 12th straight at Barclays Center.

Momentum Changers:

The Cavaliers were making a run late in the third quarter and got the game to within five points when Marcus Thornton hit a big 3-pointer with less than 10 seconds left in the quarter stopping the  Cavaliers run and giving the Nets an 85-77 lead after three.  The shot seemed to give the Nets the jolt they needed to finish off the game strong.

NUMBERS:

Deron Williams now has 21 games in a row with a steal which ties the longest streak for the Nets since Jason Kidd’s 21 games in 2005.

Paul Pierce has made 5+ 3-pointers in 4 games this season. He made 5+ 3-pointers 2 times in the previous 3 seasons.

Pierce now has 100+ 3-points FG’s in 14 consecutive seasons and is the 3rd longest steak in NBA history.

The Nets win their 12th straight home game, marking the 2nd-longest streak in the NBA this season & matching 3rd-longest in Nets’ history.

Mirza Teletovic has made 3+ three-pointers off the bench for the 17th time this season. Only Vince Carter (22 games) has done it more often.

Kidd’s Corner:

“I thought everybody was touching the ball,” Kidd said. “Guys were making shots. A lot of 3s we took tonight were open, and guys were knocking them down.”

“I don’t know if anybody is going to pay to see them in the dunk contest,” Nets coach Jason Kidd joked. “Deron’s healthy, he looks great. That’s a dunk, and Jason Collins’ was a dunk, so you guys can’t get me in trouble with that.”
