Streaking Nets grab a W at Bobcats

A streak is a streak no matter how many games it is and the Nets won their second in a row so it is indeed a STREAK.

There really isn’t much to write about this victory other than it showed good heart the way the Nets came out and grinded their way to an “ugly” victory in Charlotte on Friday night.  The game started off slowly and the Nets jumped out to a lead early in the first quarter with some good shooting and great defense and they ended the first quarter  leading 23-15.  This was a change from the usual deficit the Nets put themselves in nightly with notorious bad starts and reality checked back in quickly with a HORRID shooting second quarter where they scored a lowly 16 points and to make matters worse Deron Williams came up lame with about 2 minutes to go in the half.  Williams walked off the court with the trainers and went right into the locker room. Ugh.  They held onto a slim lead at halftime with great defense and led 39-35 (not a barn burner for sure).  Williams was taken out for the rest of the game during halftime with a sore calf (originally injured during all-star game) and would leave it up to Jordan Farmar to lead the team the rest of the way.

The second half started similar to the second quarter as both teams struggled mightily to get scores as the Nets tried to get going with Farmar running the show and he did an admirable job getting them into their sets and putting teammates in position to score.  Farmar did not shoot at his normal high percentage but did distribute nicely to gather 7 assists and only 1 turnover and play solid defense on DJ Augustin of the Bobcats.  The players of the game were Kris Humphries and Shelden Williams with the way they dominated the glass from the opening tip and kept numerous positions alive with offensive rebounds. Humphries ended up with a solid 20 points and 15 rebounds while The Landlord chipped in with 6 points 13 rebounds and 2 assists and that was the difference in the game.  The Nets looked to give this game away in the fourth quarter until a hometown hero Anthony Morrow decided to join the festivities and ignite the Nets to a victory by hitting for 17 fourth quarter points with an array of jump shots and drives to the hoop which kept the Bobcats at bay for the victory.  Morrow ended up outscoring the Bobcats by himself in the fourth quarter (17-15) and the Nets ended the game with stingy defense and a good feeling to go back home and face the Houston Rockets at the Rock tonight at 8pm.

Deron Williams has been ruled out for tonight’s game with the Rockets so once again it will be up to Farmar to seize the opportunity and lead the Nets to a third win in a row……Shhhhhhh don’t jinx it.
