REPORT: WOJ – NBA approved a $5.25M Disabled Player Exception for the Brooklyn Nets

Yahoo Sports is reporting that the NBA has approved the Brooklyn Nets request for a disabled player exception for the Brook Lopez injury.
It is highly unlikely that the Nets will use the exception as it would cost too much in luxury tax to be warranted.
The Nets have had 16 different starting lineups in 34 games due to the incredible amount of injuries they have been hit with when they only had eight different starting lineups all of last season.
They have already lost 75 games due to these injuries so far this season so the inconsistency of the team is understandable to a point.

The DPE gives the Nets flexibility to sign a player because of the nature of the Brook Lopez injury. The exception expires on December 10.

Clarification: DPE expires on March 10 — not Dec. 10. With full roster, Nets would have to create a spot to sign or trade for a player. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) January 8, 2014
For Brooklyn to use the full $5.2M exception and pay its luxury tax bill, it would cost the Nets an additional $20 million or so. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) January 8, 2014
