While the Brooklyn Nets are busy doing their best to put together a championship caliber team for their new head coach Lionel Hollins, news has come out that they may be retiring their new mascot, the BrooklynKnight.

Zach Lowe of Grantland is reporting that the Marvel Comic created Nets “superhero” mascots days are numbered and he may be retired for good.

All Nets fans remember the day the new mascot was unveiled as he came flying out of the rafters of the Barclays Center. This all happened as the Nets transitioned away from New Jersey and put the old Sly the Fox mascot out to pasture.

Immediately the complaints and jokes began with beat reporters and soon kids and parents alike complained that the new character was too scary and not Nets centric enough for the team.

It look like the days of this Superhero mascot are numbered. Sigh.
