Nets Beat Wizards To Open Barclays Center 98-88

The Brooklyn Nets took the court at their brand new billion dollar home last night and faced off against the Washington Wizards.

The game was good for the Nets as they got a chance to play in the new building as well as play with their new teammates again.

Brook Lopez came out strong and looked bigger and more confident than he has in the past. Lopez had a couple 3 point plays to go with a few trips to the free throw line.  The rebounding number is what all nets fans should keep an eye on.  Lopez grabbed 11 rebounds in 25 minutes of action to go with his 18 points.

The backup to Lopez looks to be Andray Blatche right now.  Blatche had a huge game for the Nets last night with 16 Pts, 8 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 Stl, 1 Blk and seemed to enjoy every moment against the former team who amnestied him.

The rest of the starters looked to be getting acquainted with one another as the ball movement was good and the team is playing very unselfish.  Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries did what they normally do and that is play great defense and rebound the ball.   Brooklyn’s backcourt of  Deron Williams, 11 Pts and 9 Asts, and  Joe Johnson , 14 Pts, 5Ast, 3Reb, looked very comfortable playing alongside each other. Great sign for the Nets.

My player of the game was CJ Watson.  Watson is the type of player that seems to thrive in the 4th quarter and that is right in line with what Avery Johnson stated last week.  Johnson is intrigued by how he can use Watson with Williams and Johnson on the court as well to end games.  The options that Watson can create for the Nets and their rotations are far beyond his veteran minimum contract he signed. Watson was a +16 while on the floor last night against the Wizards.
