Mirza Teletovic Finally Getting a Real Chance

[box]The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers last night 99-94 in a game that was once a 27 blowout for the Lakers turned into a last possession game for Brooklyn.

One big reason for the comeback by the Nets was the breakout game for Mirza Teletovic who dropped 14 points in the fourth quarter alone and finished with 17 points (4-for-7 from 3) total. He also had five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one big block in 20 minutes of play.

Teletovic has taken advantage of his first real playing time since he came to Brooklyn and doesn’t look to be letting this opportunity pass him by.Mirza teletovic shooting over Lakers

He has played over 20 minutes in back-to-back games and not in mop-up duty. He has been inserted into the game in the second quarters and played extended minutes at one time without the worry of being yanked after three minutes or a mistake.

The coaches have also allowed him to work through the rust of sitting the first part of the season and it seems to be paying off for everyone.

To watch Teletovic shooting 3-pointers at the top of the key coming off a screen like he did against the Lakers is a thing of beauty as he has an absolutely beautiful jump shot.  He is a streaky shooter so if you can get him going he may not stop and that can only benefit Brooklyn.

Teletovic has never been known for his defense but he has gotten better and seems much more comfortable on the floor now than last season.  His all around game is coming along with the increased playing time.  He had a big block and a few big rebounds during the Nets comeback against the Lakers.

It seems that Brooklyn is finally playing with a sense of urgency and not waiting for Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Andrei Kirilenko to return.  They are realizing that when they are ready to play and can contribute they will be back but until then they have to adjust and use the players that they have healthy and start racking up some wins.

Teletovic looks to be grabbing a hold of a rotation spot right now with all of those injuries and if he continues to play this well he may not give those minutes back any time soon.

[quote_box]“I don’t know if people really know about how physical I am, but I can really do much more than just shoot,” Teletovic said after the game. “This is what we need and this is what I try to bring every night as much as I can.” [/quote_box]

I have been a big Teletovic supporter since the Nets signed him and refuse to give up on this guy because I know he can shoot the lights out and become a weapon that the Nets need if given a “real chance” so prove me right Mirza.

Mirza knows his time is now as well.
