The “not so” blockbuster trade deadline move of Billy King trading away Jason Terry and Reggie Evans for Marcus Thornton is turning out to be one of the best deadline deals of the season and at the time it didn’t make much news.

Thornton has been instant offense since the moment he joined Brooklyn Nets and whenever he steps onto the floor he is ready to roll and drop dagger 3-pointers on anyone who doubts him.Marcus Thornton dribbling

Since being acquired by the Nets on February 20th Thornton has had five games with 4+ 3-pointers in a game.  All the other Nets have combined for five games of 4+ 3-pointers in that time frame.  He is averaging 12.5 ppg with Brooklyn while shooting 46.3 percent overall and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc.

That is flat-out production from a tweener guard off the bench.

What he did last night, where he opened the fourth quarter with a pair of 3-pointers and finished the fourth with 11 points, was exactly what he does every night with his new team.  He changes the momentum as soon as he touches the ball because on any given night he can explode for 20 points or more in less than 20 minutes of play.

He plays with absolute unbridled confidence and it seems to be infectious on this veteran-laden team.

I don’t know of anyone who has any greener green-light than Thornton does right now with the Nets and Jason Kidd allowing him thrive in Brooklyn’s share the ball scheme.

This man needs a nickname because we cant use the “Microwave” like Vinny Johnson so lets come up with something that works for this mini microwave.
