The new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets is now Lionel Hollins and if his first press conference is a precursor to what this man is about then all Nets fans will be very happy for years to come.

Hollins was quite entertaining and spoke his mind about how he wants to coach and what he is all about. He said he wants the team to play at quicker pace and says he sees veterans who can score as well as young guys who need to be developed. (music to Nets fans ears)

“I’m excited to be here, I know it’s a challenge but in order to be successful, you have to go through challenges.”

He mentioned that it refreshed him being away from the game for a year which allowed him to see his son play in the NIT and win the championship. He also worked with SiriusXM Radio which also allowed him to stay connected to the game.

“Being off from the NBA for a year was truly a blessing.”

He spoke of just being happy to be here and to have another chance ion the NBA……

“I’m excited to be here, I know it’s a challenge but in order to be successful, you have to go through challenges.”

How different is that to what we just went through with the bland, noncommittal and power hungry Jason Kidd?

Hollins was funny right off the bat with the New York media as he spoke about his amazing number of text messages on his cell phone number and how his number got into the media’s hands…….

“I don’t know how many of you had my phone number, but you can best bet it will be changed.”

One of the best things Hollins said was that he is a coach…..

“I’m a basketball coach. I don’t want to do Billy’s job. … I’m very low maintenance. … I just want to coach.”
