As the coaching search continues in Brooklyn a new name surfaced tonight and it isn’t a young up and coming coach.

Larry Brown has been contacted by Nets officials as per SNY.tv.

Brown is 72 years old, currently the SMU coach, has always been an NBA nomad going from job to job and turning programs around before wearing out his welcome and moving onto the next coaching job.

Brown coached the Nets to two winning seasons in 1981 through 1983 and was 93-67 and lost in the first round of the playoffs in his first season with the team.

He was also the coach of the Philadelphia Sixers when Billy King was the GM of the Sixers as well.

Is Brown really an option for the Nets?

The Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers have both “contacted” SMU coach Larry Brown about their coaching openings, a source close to Brown told SNY.tv.

The source said a third team, possibly the Los Angeles Clippers, has also reached out to Brown, 72. The source requested anonymity because he is not authorized to speak publicly for Brown.

“Three NBA teams have talked to him,” the source said, adding that he was not certain of the identity of the third team.[/quote_simple]
