Jason Kidd Pleads Guilty To Drunk Driving

Jason Kidd, head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge and was placed on interim probation nearly a full year after he ran his SUV into a utility pole in Long Island.  He was the only person in the SUV and suffered minor injuries from it.

A way for Kidd to help with his plea deal, he  agreed to speak to Long Island high school students about the dangers of drinking and driving.  If Kidd fulfills his community service, his plea will be reduced to a violation of driving while ability impaired.

Kidd did not speak to anyone when he left the courthouse today and he will return to court on Sept. 30.

The Nets issued a statement Tuesday regarding Kidd:

The NBA could come down later with a suspension for Kidd as they have done prior with other executives that break the law although that has yet to be determined
