The New York Islanders are beginning a new faze in their history and they are hoping for a revival similar to what Brooklyn has done for the Nets.

A preseason game will be held September 21, 2013 vs. New Jersey Devils and it will mark the first ever NHL hockey game to be played in Brooklyn.

The team will leave Nassau County for Brooklyn after the 2014-2015 season.

[blockquote]“I think there’s one word for it, it’s beautiful,” Islanders owner Charles Wang said of Barclays. “I’m very happy as you can see from the smile.”

“What Charles and I have decided is that the Islanders colors as they are today will be the same when they get here, the name will be the same.” Barclays CEO Brett Yormark said.

“My job is to work with Charles and make sure that we stay true to the hardcore fan, the fan that has been there from day one. But at the same time, we also want to connect with the new fan and we’re going to do it in an appropriate way.”[/blockquote]
