For Nets Tyshawn Taylor – The Time Is NOW
Everyone knows by now that the Brooklyn Nets made one of the biggest trades in years last week and brought over Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry from the Boston Celtics to suit up in the black and white at Barclays Center.
The next step is to fill out the roster and find the right guys to plays roles for new coach Jason Kidd.
One position of major question with most Nets fans is the backup point guard position now that C.J. Watson has accepted a deal to play for the Indiana Pacers.

Taylor did not have a fun season last year being shuttled back and forth to the Nets D-League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, and 
nailed to the end of the bench by both coaches the Nets employed. He was never given a real chance last year due to the Nets lofty expectations with their move to Brooklyn and needing to make the playoffs to validate their $300 million in offseason spending.
That will change this year as the ever confident point guard from Kansas, who was selected 41st overall in the 2012 NBA Draft, is one player who plays with a chip on their shoulder for having to wait that long to be drafted. The Hoboken, NJ native who played for legendary coach Bob Hurley, Sr. in high school has known winning his whole life so sitting on the end of the bench did not sit well with him.
Every time Taylor got the chance to show his worth in the D-League he tore it up and dominated the games averaging 24.6 points, 7.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds.
He plays with an attitude and arrogance that should ultimately make him successful in the NBA in the near future. He is a blur with the basketball and can attack at any point and finish at the rim with a fearless nature that the Nets do not have in any other player. His quickness and smaller stature is something that Brooklyn will need this year when they play against teams who employ smaller, quicker point guards for long stretches.
The one thing that has been questioned in the past and will continue to be a question mark is his decision making, knowing when to turn it on and when to simply run the offense and guide the team through their sets.
The Nets summer league team will be Taylor’s time to shine and show his new coach just how good he is and that he is ready to be the backup to Deron Williams this year.
Practices started yesterday for the Nets and along with it being Kidd’s first official practice, it also was the first chance Taylor got to show his coach his game in a live scrimmage setting.
Word has it he played very well and may have made his first mark on the coaching staff.
