D-Will Talks Nets Offseason Additions

Deron Williams held a Dodgeball Tournament yesterday and was in a walking boot during the event as a precaution “to protect himself from himself.”

Williams answered some questions on the red carpet about his knowledge of the Nets offseason blockbuster trade and other acquisitions made to bolster the team’s title chances.

On the trade with the Celtics, “I knew Billy (King) was going after Paul (Pierce) and I thought that was done and then he called me and was like we’re going after KG (Garnett) too. I was like no way that is happening. No way you can get both of them, but he did,” Williams said.

Dwill did note that he did have an influence on the Andrei Kirilenko signing, “Yeah I talked to AK (Kirilenko) once I saw he opted out and I was just like come Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kirilenko looks to pass the ball as he falls to the fall in front of teammate Williams and Brooklyn Nets guard Johnson in the first quarter of their NBA basketball game in New Yorkplay with us for one-year and AK’s made a lot of money so it wasn’t about the money.

He wants to come to a team that’s going to be fun and have a chance to win and he’s going to have chance to play here…That’s as big of an addition as the other two guys (Pierce and Garnett).”[/quote_simple]

I totally agree with D-will on his assertion that the Andrei Kirilenko acquisition is just as important as the Celtics trade for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
Kirilenko is a do-it-all multi-talented player that can hide a ton of flaws and fill in at multiple positions when called upon.  This Russian is going to quickly become a Barclays Center favorite once Brooklyn fans see is unwavering hustle.
This is one of the biggest offseason gets for any team and not only because of the mini-mid-level exception he accepted but for what his talents offer the Nets.
