Can The Brooklyn Nets Pry Josh Smith From Atlanta?

There is less than two days left until the trading deadline and many teams are ramping up their offers to change their teams.  One team that is in dire need of a power forward is our own Brooklyn Nets and the news continues to revolve around the same few names.

Josh Smith has made it clear he is not going to resign with Atlanta Hawks in the offseason so it looks like he will be traded by Thursday.  The major question with Smith is the fact that he thinks he deserves a max contract in the 5-years and 90 million range and I don’t know of any team that will be willing to pay him that much.

The Nets have offered Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and a draft pick for Smith but Atlanta has chosen to look at all offers and see if they can get a better deal.  The Nets have been said to need a third team in the deal to sweeten the pot and make it more attractive as the Hawks want a young center in the deal and obviously the Nets aren’t giving up Brook Lopez.

Last week the Cleveland Cavaliers, as per Sam Amico, were mentioned as a third team that could help facilitate a deal for Brooklyn but that has gone quiet in the past few days.

Will the seemingly bottomless pockets of the the Brooklyn Nets make this deal happen?

Let’s ask Woj and see what he thinks…
