GM Billy King is in Durham, NC at his alma mater, Duke University, this week for Brooklyn Nets training camp and he sat down with reporters for a question and answer session.

King was asked if this team has a 2-year window to compete, King immediately said that “This is the window. THIS season.”

[quote_box]”We’re going to see what we can do with this season and then we’ll see what next season brings.  Now that we’re within this season, this is the now” King added.[/quote_box]

The idea that the Nets have a win now mentality is something that all Nets fans love to hear.Paul Pierce and Jason Terry at Nets training camp

The major offseason acquisitions of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and Andrei Kirilenko make the Nets a solid pick to go deep in the playoffs and contend for the NBA championship.

Health will be a major concern as the Nets are not young although the pressure should be spread throughout the entire team and no longer solely on the shoulders of Deron Williams.

[quote_box]“There’s not as much pressure just on (Garnett), as it has been in the past,” King said. “When we traded for him, he was just a face.  Everybody said this team would go as far as Williams would take them. Well, now, there’s a lot more pieces.”

King added, “They’re here to win one thing, so when you have guys that have made as much money as they’ve made, the only thing they can do next is try to accomplish something which is winning a championship.  When you have that, the intensity level does rise.”[/quote_box]

King knew the winning mentality that Garnett and Pierce would bring to the Nets will be undeniable it should permeate the lockerroom quickly enough to get the Nets off to a quick start as their confidence will be sky high by the end of camp.
