Brooklyn Nets Sign Euro Bojan Bogdanovic To a Three-year Deal

Updated: July 5, 2013

The Brooklyn Nets have signed 23 year old swingman Bojan Bogdanovic to a three-year deal worth about $2.5 million per year with the third year being a player option.Bojan Bogdanovic, Paul Pierce

Bogdanovic was the 31st overall pick in the 2011 draft when the Nets acquired his rights in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He will be a nice piece to add to the core group the Nets currently have and his shooting and his 6’8 length could add a different dimension to this team.

The Croatian small forward has played in Turkey the past two seasons and will likely be the primary backup at the small forward position which should be held by Paul Pierce after the Boston/Brooklyn trade is finalized on July 12th.

Tornike Shengelia will also be vying for playing time at that position.

Some major information that is not yet clear is the buyout for Bogdanovic and what the amount was.

The original buyout amount looked to be $2 million although Brooklyn can only pay about $575,000 of that amount due to league rules in the new CBA.

This also brings the total players “under contract’ right now for Brooklyn to 13 players and the only thing left is to find a cheap backup point guard that can challenge Tyshawn Taylor for the backup spot.
